Avvo, Inc. (www.avvo.com) is a venture-backed Internet company based in Seattle that rates and profiles every lawyer to help consumers choose the right lawyer. We launched in June 2007 and almost immediately became recognized as a "player" in the very large, but poorly served, legal search vertical. We are passionately focused on serving the needs of consumers.
We are currently looking for a talented individual to take a leadership role on our marketing team. Overall responsibility will be to drive our presence in local markets through PR, events, and grassroots marketing programs, manage Avvo's PR efforts in all markets and across all media, and to drive Avvo's messaging and corporate communications strategy. We are looking for someone who is excited to work in a fast-paced start-up environment. This position will report to our VP of Products and Marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop marketing strategies and manage program execution to drive awareness, traffic and engagement with Avvo in targeted local markets. Programs elements may include PR, events, "grassroots" programs, advertising, and other marketing tactics.
* Lead and manage Avvo's overall public relations program across all media (print, online, broadcast, and radio) and markets (consumer and legal). In this role, you will also manage Avvo's PR agencies.
* Lead marketing launches for Avvo's rapid expansion into new states.
* Define the key elements of Avvo's brand and ensure that all elements of Avvo's interactions with our customers work to build the company's brand
* Work closely with others on the marketing team and the product development team to ensure successful execution of programs. Hire and manage 3rd party contractors or agencies as necessary.
* Estimate and measure ROI for marketing programs
Qualifications:
* 7+ years in consumer marketing and public relations, with at least 3 years working on a consumer Internet business and 3 years managing external PR agencies
* Highly creative thinker with a proven record of conceiving, developing and managing local marketing programs, including events, grassroots efforts, and public relations.
* Strong track record of conceiving, developing and managing successful PR campaigns, including launches of new consumer online products and local PR campaigns
* Deep understanding of how to develop company and product messaging, and what it takes to build a successful consumer brand
* Superb writing and oral communications skills
* Comfortable working at the strategic level and doing hands-on execution
* Start-up experience a plus.
