Outside Plant Engineer/Construction Engineer
A telecommunications company providing bandwidth, voice, and managed services to clients is currently seeking an Outside Plant/Construction Engineer to join our team of professionals in Memphis, TN.
Job Description:
*Provide cost estimates for network expansion work
*Design new jobs in order to expand the network and to serve new customers
*Order material required to construct jobs
*Supervise construction 3rd party construction vendors
*Perform and ensure fiber for continuity and quality after construction (OTDR testing)
*Maintain fiber database according to the GPS readings and entering them onto the Tennessee- One Call System (TNOCS)
*Mark buried fiber locations according to the requests from TNOCS
*Monitor outside plant network and dispatch vendor to correct any defects found
*Operate forklift used to unload supplies and equipment
Job Requirements:
*Must have a Bachelors Degree
*?????Five years of Engineering and construction experience
*Understand SONET systems and telephony network architecture standards
*Must have construction monitoring experience to determine in general that the construction work performed is in accordance with scope of work
*Experience in managing small to medium construction projects, including supervising and directing subcontractors
*Familiarity with OSP and ISP telecom construction standards and processes
*Ability to manage projects through completion to schedule and capital budget. Must have extensive background knowledge in construction, field observation, and International Building Codes
*Responsible for the total safety and quality control of entire project
