The Berdan Institute is hiring for an evening faculty member. The evening program is 47 weeks, and students learn diverse topics including preliminary oral examinations, Chairside assisting utilizing four-handed dentistry, infection control, radiology, practice management and expanded function duties. These courses prepare the student to attain the credentials of Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), Registered Dental Assistant (RDH), and Dental X-ray Technologist.
The objective of the Dental Assisting Program is to train students to acquire proficient skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of dental office procedures and laboratory techniques. Graduates of the program receive a certificate upon completion and are eligible to sit for the Certified Dental Assisting Examination sponsored by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) consisting of General Chairside, Radiation Health and Safety, and Infection Control.
The Berdan Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools. The certificate program in dental assisting is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and by the United States Department of Education.
The ideal candidate for this position is a dental assistant who has worked in the field for 3-5 years, preferably with school training, not just OTJ training; have a current NJ X-ray license; be a current CDA (certified dental assistant through DANB); be a current RDA (registered dental assistant through the NJ State Board of Dentistry); have a current CPR for the healthcare provider card; have a bachelors degree (preferably in allied health) or working toward one, be dedicated to the field and to the job, and be flexible. Hours of the position are Monday-Thursday 6:00-10:30pm.
