Position:
Manager of Operations Science
|
Job Description:
The Manager of Operations Science oversees and provides administrative and logistical support to Palmetto Health Richland's labor resource management systems. This person will advise senior management team at PHR in the areas of productivity and management engineering and also advise and assist PHR management to apply scientifically based operations management methodologies to operations so as to facilitate improved efficiencies in quality, patient safety, and employee/patient satisfaction. This position reports to the designee of the COO at Palmetto Health Richland.
Key Responsibilities:
· Continuously assess and improve Palmetto Health Richland's performance by designing operational processes, monitoring performance through data, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvement, and participating in multi-disciplinary inter-departmental PI activities.
· Manage information by providing information systems and data management for department operations and performance improvement.
· Implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the services.
· Act as an operations advisor to PHR leaders as a mechanism of re-designing work flow to efficiently meet the workload demands.
· Liasion with USC's Moore School of Business, Global Supply Chain and Operations Management Center to facilitate student consultant projects in areas of greatest opportunity at PHR.
· Align all efforts with Palmetto Health's five pillar strategic plan.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Management Science or Industrial Engineering.
Experience: OTJ or internship experience applying operations management principles in manufacturing or service industry.
Special Training: Knowledge of labor resource management to include familiarity with staffing standards, measures of labor productivity and use of national comparative databases in mgmt. of labor resources helpful. Familiarity with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, ISO 9000 and other process improvement initiatives.
