SENIOR OPTICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER
|
Job Description:
Senior Optical Systems Engineer
Responsibilities:
Develop proprietary optical subsystem for 40Gbps transceivers
Manage a multi-disciplinary project, including input from mechanical, electrical, software/firmware, RF, and optical design engineers
Develop and implement unit level and system level test strategies for long-haul fiber transceivers
Define and implement basic quality assurance practices for the manufature of optical subsystems
Specify and evaluate optical and optoelectronic components
Manage vendor relations
Tier II (TBR) support for customer demonstrations and test, both on-site and off-site
Generate appropriate design and test documentation
Qualifications:
5+ yrs in the design and test of high-speed (10Gbps or 40Gbps) optical systems required
Hands-on exp. with optical component test and characterization required
Hands-on exp. with high speed (10Gbps or 40 Gbps) optical transmitter/receiver systems or subsystems required
Fiber-optic routing and packing exp. preferred
Long-haul system development and test exp. preferred
Test automation and statistical data analysis exp. preferred
Ability to design for manufacturing required, including tolerance definition, conformance testing, and implementation of basic quality assurance practices
Must be a self-starter with the ability to make critical decisions and follow through projects to completion
Excellent written and verbal communications skills required
Ph.D. or Master's degree and 5 yrs experience in EE or Physics, with specialization in photonic subsystems or lightwave communication systems
