Tacoma Power, an award-winning municipal utility, is expanding its Rates, Planning and Analysis team. We're looking for an experienced, innovative and confident candidate to undertake a variety of business case analysis, financial and strategic planning functions.
A Senior Power Analyst is an integral, collaborative member of the Rates, Planning and Analysis team. This senior-level professional is responsible for preparing business case and business performance analysis while supporting the development of strategic objectives that may result from this analysis. This individual will coordinate research to evaluate proposals for their financial and fiscal impacts on the utility, and will also be responsible for clearly communicating the results of this research and analysis to senior utility management and community policy makers. The Senior Power Analyst will assess the national, regional and local developments in utility pricing, infrastructure, legislation and other programs related to utility planning.
Desired Qualifications
Position requires a BA/BS or higher degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or Business (Finance emphasis); an advanced degree is desired. Seven years of progressively responsible experience in business case analysis, financial modeling, strategic planning and economic analysis required.
Preferred Qualifications
* Ability to perform business case analysis and business plan modeling
* Understanding and ability to implement statistical and economic analysis techniques
* Strong quantitative skills and modeling proficiency
* Ability to perform research and analysis of industry trends
* Experience in developing business performance measures and analytics
* Ability and or experience in developing recommendations concerning strategic positioning through the development of appropriate financial and rate policy
* Ability and/or experience in the development of financial models used to prepare financial forecasts, including funding strategies and recommendations
* Ability to develop strategic processes for capital project portfolios and funding options
* Ability to identify risks associated with capital projects and develop proposals to mitigate the risks
* Effective communication skills that demonstrate verbal, writing, facilitation and presentation ability
* Ability to form and facilitate effective relationships with peers, management and others
* A critical thinking approach to analysis and problem solving
* Highly organized work habits with an attention to detail
* Superior project management skills
* A passion for learning, energy for doing, results-oriented approach
* Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database and statistical software
