sales engineer - central u.s.
The sales engineer is responsible for overcoming technical hurdles encountered by corporate and government clients to sell innovative handheld PC products. The engineer will work with the sales and engineering teams to effectively support accounts across a multi-state region. The successful candidate should possess technical expertise, sales ability and excellent communication skills. This customer-facing field position includes a variable compensation plan in addition to base salary.
responsibilities
Determine customer requirements and support the customer's assessment of suitability of the product for their targeted usage scenario
Identify and overcome potential technical barriers to sale
Support customers through technical issues encountered during evaluation or pilot programs
Assist OQO sales staff with presentations and other interactions with corporate accounts
Work with internal technical support, engineering, operations and QA teams as technical interface with customer
Source and test third-party hardware and software solutions for customers to be used with the OQO
Post-sales technical support for large corporate accounts to enable further opportunities
Provide backup coverage for sales reps and technical support as needed
requirements
5+ years experience in sales engineering or other relevant role, including sales, support, or development of high technology products for corporations
Broad understanding of PC-related hardware, networking, and software including: Windows XP, wireless technologies, handheld devices, and deployment tools such as Ghost and PXE
EE, CS, or other technical degree desirable
Experience as sales engineer for PC hardware or handheld device products preferred
Experience working in IT/MIS inside corporate environment preferred
