Education and Related Experience Requirements :
High School Diploma is preferred however equivalent experience is acceptable.
Basic Purpose and Objective:
Under close supervision, undertakes routine animal husbandry procedures in one or more species. Provides support to technicians, by assisting with routine procedures. Develops and perfects ability to handle and restrain animals for routine husbandry procedures. Develops a basic understanding of study design and issues relating to the care and welfare of laboratory animals. Performs assigned duties in accordance with protocol and Standard Operating Procedures. Adheres to the Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations and the guidelines in The Guide to the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals issued by the Institute for Laboratory Animal Research.
Job Responsibilities:

Develops a basic understanding of study design, company policies and standard operating procedures; complies with defined requirements.

Develop a basic knowledge of data recording procedures and accurately documents the conduct of basic study procedures.

Maintains a high standard of animal room hygiene and presentation; utilizes a broad range of cleaning materials, equipment and methods in the daily completion of these tasks. Performs non-routine cleaning of laboratory areas and equipment.

Undertakes routine daily husbandry procedures including the changing of soiled bedding and nesting materials, the cleaning, assembly and changing of caging and ancillary equipment.

Actively contributes to the environmental enrichment, socialization and exercising of various laboratory animals and assists in the handling, restraint and manipulation of laboratory animals. Promptly communicates animal health and welfare concerns to line manager or veterinary staff.

Assists the team by completing a broad range of routine or repetitive tasks, such as but not limited to, basic manual and computerized data collection, internal transportation of bio samples, equipment and materials.

Undertake other tasks at the discretion of Supervisor/Group Leader.
