As a key member of the CNAC Health Care Team, the responsibilities of the senior healthcare research scientist will include the following: Performing the duties of project director or principal investigator for research projects of large or moderate size, supervising others working on the projects, and reviewing their work; conducting research, writing technical manuscripts, and submitting work for publication; recommending contracts and grants on which to bid, writing proposals, and reviewing technical proposals written by others; representing CNAC's expertise in health care research through conference presentations; and managing projects to meet budget guidelines and timelines and to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. Candidates with 7 or more years of experience conducting and directing government agency sponsored analytic and policy studies in health care are particularly encouraged to apply. A successful track record of winning and executing research and analysis contracts from agencies such as CMS, AHRQ, SAMHSA, and CDC is highly desirable. Must have direct experience and expertise with accessing and analyzing government agency health care data bases, especially CMS data sets such as Medicare Part A and Part B claims data, Part D data, the Medicare denominator file, state and federal Medicaid claims and encounter data (including the MSIS, MAX [formerly SMRF], and CMS-64 data sets), beneficiary surveys, and provider (institutional and professional) data. Strong quantitative research and statistical analysis skills, as well as writing and presentation skills also required. Successful experience working with government agency clients a plus.
Ph.D. (or commensurate research experience) in a field related to health services research/policy analysis (including health economics, sociology, political science, public health, and health administration).
