The design verification test engineer is responsible for the planning and execution of design verification testing for all OQO products and accessories.
This individual will work with the hardware design teams (both electrical and mechanical) to ensure that root causes are determined and fixes implemented for issues found during testing. This includes durability, reliability and environmental testing.
responsibilities
Generate design verification plans to ensure new products are thoroughly tested for reliability, life, and environmental concerns.
Drive root cause analysis and resolution of issues identified during test.
Work with design teams to ensure fixes are rolled into design revisions.
Balance outside labs with in-house resources to execute test plans efficiently.
Perform hands-on debugging of circuits and hardware to complete high-level diagnosis of failures.
Develop hardware and software tools for testing.
Initiate communication with design and operations teams to:
Verify DV plans
Distribute DV test results
Follow-up on implementation
Work with manufacturing test engineers to correlate DV test results with Manufacturing test techniques.
requirements
BSEE with at least 5 years experience.
Demonstrable experience implementing accelerated reliability tests (specifically HALT).
Hands-on debugging of digital (SMT) circuits.
In-depth knowledge PC architecture.
3+ years experience testing mass-production portable electronic consumer products.
Disciplined approach to failure analysis (8D or similar tools).
Experience testing PC (preferably laptop) sub-systems - RAM, CPU, hard disks, etc.
