Description:
The Federal Systems Engineer (SE) is responsible for the technical role in a two-person sales team handling major account opportunities within the Federal marketplace. The assigned territory includes the Washington DC metro area and select Federal locations throughout the US. This position is based in our Herndon office in Northern Virginia.
The SE provides specific technology/product consulting; technical support for sales opportunities; performs in-depth and high-level technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects; and works closely with business units to assist with product planning and/or enhancements. The SE may also support government lab evaluations.
Approximately 20% travel.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have the following: a strong, successful pre-sales engineering track record in the federal market and the territory. Federal and direct sales engineering experience is ideal along with experience working with channel partners on opportunities and providing technical training on products.
The technical skills required include strong Gigabit Ethernet LAN switching and IP routing knowledge and experience with OSPF, BGP, and multicast routing protocols. The candidate must be experienced with data communications network design and data equipment pre-sales engineering (routers, switches, wireless, security solutions).
Other requirements include:
- The ability to create network diagrams and bills of material.
- The ability to troubleshoot simple to complex networking problems Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model.
- Good presentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
A current security clearance is desirable but not required.
