Lead Controls Design Engineer for key Locomotive Embedded Control Systems. Engineers in this subsection use state-of-the-art design/validation processes to produce control systems that meet robust performance and reliability goals. Design Engineers utilize control systems modeling, Six Sigma statistical tools/methodology and other advanced tools to complete projects. Engineers develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. Are responsible for work that is less defined in scope and has the understanding and experience to execute business objectives. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Executes the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
Provides technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project.
Documents technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Provides timely communications on significant issues or developments.
Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
At least 3 additional years of experience in an engineering position
Desired
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
PC proficiency
Advanced technical degree or advanced business degree
Previous experience in railroad industry
Willingness to work flexible/additional hours to complete job activities
Willingness to work on locomotives and/or field sites to troubleshoot and develop designs
Willingness to travel 5% of the time
Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
