Posted: Oct 08, 2007 Responsibilities

Support the environmental compliance needs of the field sales workforce to reduce customer and field waste liability.

Proactively lead the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs at GE Water sites in Trevose, PA (headquarters) and Langhorne, PA (distribution center):

* Manage activities, which drive compliance with EHS regulation and company programs/policies.

* Provide technical EHS guidance and training.

* Analyze data to assess environment, health and safety challenges, and to develop approaches to control; maintain compliant EHS reporting.

* Drive accountability with all functions and employees to aggressively reduce accidents, injuries and disability costs; apply ergonomic principles to improve workstations and minimize injuries.

* Conduct accident/near-miss reporting, investigation and follow-up.

* Develop and maintain excellent local and state agency relationships; adhere to applicable Federal, State, and GE EHS requirements/frameworks.

* Interface professionally with company employees, customers, government officials and the public in all areas of environment, health and safety.

* Understand and use Power Suite tools and applications.

* Serve as site security contact.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Health & Safety Management, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene.

* Working knowledge of EPA, OSHA and regulations.

* Knowledge and experience of GE Programs and Systems (Environmental and Health & Safety Frameworks).

* Understanding of ergonomic principles.

* Demonstrated general knowledge of EHS programs.

Desired

* Work experience in environmental and/or health and safety capacity.

* Strong technical knowledge and understanding of state and federal EHS-related laws and regulations.

* Experience working with EPA, OSHA and other EHS regulatory agencies in the U.S.

* Certified Safety Professional and/or Certified Environmental Professional.

* Experience with Power Suite applications.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Strong interpersonal skills; positive influencing skills in a team environment.

* Demonstrated ability to facilitate and achieve results in a team environment.

* Self-starter with ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks.

* Advanced computer skills.
