The Software engineering team provides the state of the art control system architecture for Locomotives, Marine and stationary Engine systems. Responsible for leading the software design and implementation effort for Locomotive control systems by performing the following activities: architecture trade-off analysis, requirement collection, process control, release control, design quality, implementation, and verification/validation. Demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for an area or business segment. Has the experience or expertise to solve problems. Develops practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. Is responsible for work that is less defined in scope and has the understanding and experience to execute business objectives. Able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Functions
Software Requirement Analysis
Software Architecture Trade-off Analysis
Software Design, Failure Mode Analysis and Interaction Matrices
Software Implementation EF5 Software Verification and Validation
Software documentation in all the phases of life cycle (requirements, design, V&V)
Adherence to Software Processes
Utilizing DFSS methodology, tools, and rigor is required to assure the system and service CTQ's(Critical to Quality) are achieved
Participate actively in design and code reviews
Close interaction with customers to drive requirements and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
BSEE
Minimum of Five years of experience in embedded real-time software design and development
Proven history in delivering successful high quality embedded software products in C/C++, under both QNX and embedded real time operating systems
Proven history in developing software for x86, Power PC (83XX, 55XX and 5XX) and 68k architecture
Domain knowledge in the following areas is a must: interfacing with serial, Ethernet and CAN drivers, file management, communication systems interfaces, object oriented analysis and design (OOAD), task management, firmware development, and engine or power control applications
Experience using Matlab (Simulink and RTW) or Matrix-X design tools for Auto Code Generation
Eligibility Requirements

If currently a GE employee, you must have been in your current position for at least 12 months and have at least a satisfactory performance rating
Desired
Masters or advanced degree preferred
Real time control development utilizing C/C++ and working with TCP/IP, Arcnet, and CAN networks
Experience with Serial and Ethernet drivers, GPS interfaces, and FLASH memory implementations
S/W design and integration experience, particularly at device driver level (I.e. I/O interface, Communication protocols: RS232, RS 422, TCP/IP, and CAN)
Experience in all phases of the product engineering/development cycle in addition to practical experience with the SEIs CMM
Experience in HMI development
Experience in Diesel Engine Controls, Inverter based Motor Controls.
Experience with development tools such as Windriver/Greenhills/CANalyzer
Project management and team organization experience is preferred
Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
