Position : Assistant Production Coordinator - (Project)

The School Solutions Group, a division of McGraw-Hill Education, has an immediate opening for an Assistant Production Coordinator in our ADP Department to work in house on a project basis.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for assisting Production Coordinators with coordinating and buying production services for multiple supplemental and state-specific projects.

In tandem with Production Coordinators, the role focuses on communicating project specifications and expectations to vendors to request bids and assign work, trouble-shooting technical problems experienced by vendors, and providing feedback or guidance to vendors as necessary.

Creates and/or reviews templates, go-bys, job notes, reviews and develops procedures to ensure efficient production flow.

Acts as a liaison between production vendor and Art/Photo, Design, Editorial, and Manufacturing departments to establish project goals.

Initiates and attends status meetings to understand the scope of the assigned and upcoming projects.

Ensures the completion of the post-production process (i.e. requests and reviews that final application files, media technology and printer PDFs are created properly before release).

Tracks budget and schedule status and appropriately communicates to project team, Production Coordinator, and Department Supervisor.

Creates purchase orders and reviews invoices prior to processing on a timely basis.

Maintains necessary Macintosh software knowledge to develop, analyze and troubleshoot project files.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, experience in educational textbook print production from desktop publishing to page layout through prepress processes.

Working knowledge of InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, PDF file format, Excel, and the Macintosh operating system.

Equivalent experience in Quark will be considered. A working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator a plus.

Experience with successfully multi-tasking and following-up with co-workers and/or vendors.

Ability to work under deadline pressure and remain organized.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Attention-to-detail is a must.

Experience working on a team and individually.
