Description :
To assist in the development of educational products, with a focus on the design of classroom materials
Design educational publishing materials that address the needs of teachers and students, from concept through printed material
Ensure that the design implementation is consistent with product purpose and specifications
Ensure the art and design of assigned projects supports and enhances the print
Analyze manuscripts and art/photo specs, generate art specs and direct art styles
Alert supervisor of possible sensitivity issues which arise in design specifications
Maintain current knowledge of new technologies in the area of art photography, page layout, printing, binding, type and film work.
Work positively with the other team members
Research the art and photo specifications within the scope of a defined project
Schedules and Work Flow
Complete publishing projects to accurately meet schedule, quality and budget objectives
Interact effectively with design vendors and freelancers to ensure they have all the materials and information necessary to meet deadlines
Communicate project specifications and schedules using established procedures
Alert Manager of deadline issues and assist in resolution
Project Management
Monitor assisting staff and freelance personnel throughout the duration of a defined project
Execute the complete back up of all final files and art archives ensuring they are logged according to established procedures
Monitor layouts through all proof cycles, create art bid requests and negotiate costs
Initiate contracts and track invoices for payment
Delegate responsibilities based on the scope and resources of a defined project
Manage design and art budgets within established guidelines
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in a related field
3-6 years production/design experience, preferably with an educational publisher
Working knowledge of the design, production and editorial process
Working knowledge of the following applications:
Adobe InDesign
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
Microsoft Office
Ability to work in a collaborative environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal communication skills
