Posting Job Description The ideal candidate should have their finger on the pulse of popular media and culture. Should be familiar with the 10 most popular e-mailed stories on nytimes.com and can rattle off a list of news/gossip/opinion blogs and news sites that they check -- not just daily, but obsessively throughout the day. They should not only know who the celebrity on the cover of Us Weekly is, but who the last three people she dated are. Must be opinionated about news and events and excited to share those opinions with others. Should know how to identify who an audience is and what they want, not from stacks of market research and focus groups, but from watching live engagement of content
Skills Required:
Self-motivated personality and an excellent team player
Superior headline writing, editing, copywriting skills
Able to act and write under pressure, react nimbly to real-time events
Detail-oriented with an ability to juggle multiple tasks
Appetite for service-news and information
Strong sense of popular culture with the ability to spot consumer and media trends
Ability to feel for and react to a massive audience
Review detailed reporting to gauge overall trends and profile your audience
Skills Desired:
Strong consumer editorial background in magazines, newspapers and/or online, or related fields
Substantial background and experience in editorial visual design direction
Experience with tight publishing deadlines in rapidly changing environment
Headline writing and/or editorial promotional writing
