The School Solutions Group, a division of McGraw-Hill Education, has an immediate opening for a Vice President of Advance Placement Programs.
Responsibilities:
Manage the development of market-driven publishing plans for the advanced placement products. Lead the product development process from conceptualization through publication to meet department goals for revenue and profit in alignment with the budget. Provide leadership, feedback and support to editorial and marketing staff.
Manage editorial staff, vendors and contractors to ensure editorial quality. Ensure that advance placement programs are marketed appropriately and that client needs are understood. Conduct external and internal research to understand market dynamics and revenue opportunities for advanced placement products.
Maintain relationship with authors, consultants and internal staff during product conceptualization, development and marketing to ensure the appropriate focus and configuration of the product.
Effectively lead the collaboration of internal departments, including: art/design, production, production editorial, and manufacturing, to meet publishing goals.
Report the progress of program development to senior managers on a regular basis, identify issues that will have an impact on quality, budget, schedule and implement solutions.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Must have at least 8 years of editorial experience
Must have at least 3 years of supervisory experience
Advanced placement product development, marketing or sales experience
Budget and revenue responsibility
Creativity and problem solving
Experience in educational publishing
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as the Internet and digital publishing tools
Desired:
Master’s degree in a related field
Experience in a leadership role and managing the publication of a major educational series
Classroom teaching experience
Experience in K-4, In-Copy, Adobe Acrobat, and 1Step
Full profit and loss responsibility
