Description :
The Assistant Buyer for HSN.com assists with the planning and merchandising teams to support the buyer, maximize the effectiveness of the Buying Unit, and achieve sales, profits and market share objectives.
Responsibilities:
Assist and support site rotation implementation and coordination.
Participate in site maintenance and QA.
Responsible for merchandising specific storefronts and related areas.
Work with Buyer to achieve overall goals of departments.
Work with Buyer as a liaison between centralized Merchandising organization and other departments to ensure that products receive maximum exposure.
Work with Buyer to increase market understanding.
Identify up sell opportunities for products.
Work with divisions within and outside of HSN.com to develop long and short term promotional plans relating to trends, and marketing opportunities.
Generate and analyze reports.
Write and review purchase orders and submit for approval.
Attend vendor meetings with Buyer in order to learn/build upon buying and negotiating skills.
Assist Buyer in product selection .
Work with vendors to resolve shipping issues.
Manage assigned category in the absence of Buyer.
BS/BA
2-4 years traditional or electronic retailing experience.
Understanding of the merchandising process and product lifecycle.
Should be familiar with HSN strategy, the merchandising metrics and the why or why not plans are being achieved.
Ability to spot trends and translate them into products desired by target customer.
Ability to analyze reports and draw conclusions/recommendations
Understanding and skill in performing basic retail calculations.
Excellent communications skills both written and oral.
Highly organized and detailed oriented.
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments at the same time.
Ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of HSN employees and external clients.
Knowledge of Access required. Advanced knowledge preferred.
Intermediate to advanced Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
Experience using an Inventory Tracking tool such as Retek.
Background in apparel merchandising strongly preferred.
