Explanation Statement



John Deere Waterloo Works is seeking a Material Coordinator to manage the day-to-day performance and relationship of a group of suppliers for several assigned commodities to support factory operations. In this position, you will:

Plan and expedite material from supplier to line side.
Utilize Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables to analyze part data.
Create material moves to move material from one department to another, move material into the factory from the warehouse or move material out of the factory to fill CWIS orders.
Review part requirements within SAP and move orders in or out as appropriate.
Schedule and expedite the delivery of purchased materials to support a production plan, including recommendations for premium logistic alternatives when appropriate.
Work with the Supply Management Specialist to maintain an ongoing relationship with assigned suppliers to monitor and improve supplier performance.
Measure the performance of the supplier and negotiate to resolve short-term performance problems/non-conformances.
Resolve and eliminate shipping and receiving problems to ensure prompt and accurate payments to suppliers.
Coordinate and execute the logistics requirements for the supplier concerning containers, packaging methods and parameters; arranges agreements with the supplier on appropriate logistics processes before the start of production.
Support the Engineering Change Management (ECM) process so design changes and product improvements are implemented in a timely and cost effective manner.
Support the Enterprise Product Delivery Process by ensuring an effective transition from Product Delivery Process (PDP) to Order Fulfillment Process (OFP) through timely placement and receipt of initial production order.
Coordinate and execute inventory plans using systems parameters and material replenishment strategies to achieve inventory/asset management and material flow goals.
Drive continuous improvement in terms of performance with the supply base, using supplier delivery metrics and improvement processes.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain disciplines or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some over-time and/or weekends.
Experience using Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge/experience of SAP Materials Management and Production Planning modules.
Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Experience working in a high energy, fast paced job.
Ability to work in an ever-changing environment.
Desired Skills and Experience

Experience in Supply Management with fundamental knowledge of MRP.
Basic understanding of manufacturing operations.
