Environmental Engineer-Air Specialist II

For a listing of employee benefits, please visit us at www.texaspetrochemicals.com POSITION SUMMARY Provides leadership and team work in execution of regulatory permitting and compliance activities for various air programs, including PSD, Title V, MACT, NSPS, NESHAP, TCEQ Regulations V (VOC) and VII (NOx), and any City of Houston compliance activities. Also provides execution regulatory permitting and compliance activities for various waste and water programs for Baytown and Houston Dock Operations. Monitors new developments in federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations for applicability and impact at Texas petrochemicals. Assists in developing strategies for maintaining compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Provides daily environmental support and environmental project support for Environmental, Operations, Maintenance, and Lab. Maintains strong professional credentials in the air compliance area and represents TPC within professional and technical organizations, as well as during regulatory visits and inspections. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Excellent command of the English Language, both written and verbal
Technical writing skills are desired, with the ability to present petrochemical processes in a manner easily understood by non-industry groups
Excellent presentation skills required
College level algebra and statistical analysis is desired
Must be able to read and interpret governmental regulations to determine applicability to the company’s business processes
Must be able to read and understand technical and non-technical information for use in everyday decision-making processes
Must be able to listen and comprehend input from various interest groups (stake holders) and make key decisions regarding environmental issues and policies
Good working knowledge of personal computers and MS Office software utilized by the company such as MS Word, Access, and Excel is required.
Working knowledge of relational databases such an MS SQL or Oracle is desired.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other appropriate engineering/science discipline is required
Minimum of ten (10) years air-related experience in environmental activities associated with petrochemical manufacturing operations is required.
Minimum of ten (10) or more years of general environmental experience is preferred with general Federal and State regulation including PSD, title V, MACT, NSPS, NESHAP and 30 TAC [Texas Regulation].
