The Microsoft™ Mediaroom® Team builds software and end-to-end systems for delivery of television using the latest technologies in video compression, networking, and embedded systems. We are looking for a highly motivated, self driven program leader who can play a key role in shipping our IPTV Solution. You will work closely with set top box Partners to develop whole home hardware/software solutions that provide the IPTV ecosystem with state-of-the-art technology and create a breakthrough in the television user experience. You will also work with our internal teams to gather and communicate system requirements to the partner (including technical specifications), as well as provide input into our design decisions. You will own the creation and lead of individual project schedules in MS Project for the SW porting and program needs of the program from engagement through test and release of the SW product. Your participation with an OEM Partner would involve design, development, problem diagnosis, test and manufacturing. Another key opportunity in this position is program management of software engineering projects within the Mediaroom® Porting and Client Platform development team.
Qualifications: 5 years experience in project management of external partner projects for set top box development and 5 years experience in direct development engineering of such systems either in HW system and/or low level embedded SW design. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of standard video and compressed video technologies (H.264, VC-1, MPEG standards), computer graphics, security, networking (home and TCPIP), and system interfaces for a set top box solution. It is critical to understand the process of modern set top box design from conception to manufacturing. You also have experience creating technical specifications and participating in system bring-up and manufacturing. MS Project expertise is highly desirable. A BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or applicable job experience is highly desirable.
We seek a person with excellent problem solving skills and the ability to balance short-term and long term deliverables, strong communication (both written and verbal) and project-management skills, as well as a broad technical development background. Small and large group presentations and minimal travel will be required.
