Posted: Apr 07, 2008 Responsibilities

Candidate will be part of cross-functional Locomotive Cab Engineering Team responsible for mechanical structural design and packaging of locomotive cab structures for Diesel-Electric Locomotives. Interactions will include engineering sub-system teams, systems engineering team, manufacturing team, sourcing team, and field service team. Candidate will also be responsible for defined work or projects with moderate complexity. Follows an individual work plan and meets day-to-day short-term objectives. Has the ability to resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

- Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements.

- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.

- Document and communicate results of technical data generated.

- Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives.

- Share information and promote open dialogue.

- Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business.
Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

Desired

- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

- Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred (GE employees only).

- Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

- PC proficiency.
