Here is what you get to do:
Develop TiVo advertising features on current and future television set-top-boxes
Investigate new feature ideas and opportunities, identifying major areas of work and approximate effort required
Identify and implement enhancements to existing software subsystems in order to improve the quality and efficiency of the current product
Respond to bug reports, and implement bug fixes when appropriate
This is what you need to be successful:
Must have excellent Java or C/C++ coding skills, with an eye toward performance
Strong OOP design skills
Experience with or enthusiasm for embedded, consumer electronics systems
Experience with multithreaded programming
Demonstrated commitment to test-driven development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both technical and cross-functional
B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
The following background and skills will also be helpful in this role:
Real-time programming experience with audio and/or video processing in set-top or embedded systems
Experience with interactive TV applications or platforms
Experience and technical understanding of one or more of the following technologies: MPEG2, MPEG4, DVB-SI, DVB-MHP, DSM-CC
Experience with either cable or satellite Network Operators
Experience developing digital media/multimedia applications
