John Deere Parts Distribution is seeking a Facilities Planning Engineer to perform basic professional facilities engineering assignments. In this position, you will:
Identify best warehousing practices to maximize facility utilization, improve productivity, and reduce indirect material expense throughout the NA distribution centers and depot networks.
Provide facility capacity plans to accommodate annual parts growth at all facilities.
Provide continual recommended part movement within/between facilities to obtain the most cost effective storage and shipping methods. Computer literacy with DNS and SAS to develop programs to maximize storage density and accurately project capital expenditures for storage related projects.
Support project teams responsible for the design and construction/renovation of warehouse facilities.
Work directly with project manager to provide baseline data and detailed analysis for sizing facilities.
Design interior layouts and determine racking material requirements.
Work directly with architect and contractors during construction phase of projects.
Travel periodically to other Deere locations in Canada and U.S.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent work experience.
Required Skills and Experience
Proficient in AutoCAD.
Facilities layout experience.
Desired Skills and Experience
Warehouse experience.
Experience using SAS.
