Core job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
The Surface HW Project Program Manager is the overall PM owner of the hardware product and schedule for the next Microsoft Surface system release. You will be responsible for working with a highly experienced team of developers, testers, product managers, user experience designers, operations personnel and other program managers to closely coordinate all dependencies and hardware deliverables in order to ship the next version of Microsoft Surface.

You will own the end-to-end (e2e) process for your release of the product including the overall product schedule, functional specification and hardware budget for the project, the primary responsibility for coordinating the overall hardware development and test releases and signoffs. As well as working with external vendors for the development of the product.

Additional responsibilities will include ownership of the overall functional specification and system specs with other program managers owning the technical content and coordinating all design phase review / gates with other program managers and developers owing the technical input. You will also manage a small number of contingent staff people to assist in administrative duties.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in the industry, with a track record of contributing to teams that have successfully shipped products. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, mechanical or electrical engineering is desirable; an advanced degree such as a Master's degree is also a plus. Additionally, the ideal candidate will also have demonstrated experience in hardware product development and delivery; experience in technical product planning and technology strategy development is a plus. The candidate must thrive in a highly collaborative environment and provide strong leadership within that context. Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to think strategically while also being able to listen, negotiate and drive consensus as required. Finally, strong business analysis and management, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required.

This position will report to the Director of Hardware Program Management in the Surface Computing group at Microsoft.
