The Windows Mobile team is seeking a Director of Program Management for our Networking Communications and Synchronization organization. This position will have the following specific responsibilities:
Managing 2-3 lead PMs and an overall PM organization of 10-12 individuals who in turn manage the delivery of the following suite of technologies:
- core networking components: TCP/IP and related technologies (Connection Management, DNS, NAT, DHCP, HTTP/WinInet, etc.)
- Bluetooth, IrDA, UWB and other short range wireless drivers.
- Cellular communication technologies and associated radio drivers for GSM, UMTS, HSDPA and the CDMA 1xEVDO family of protocols
- Wireless drivers for WiFi, WiMax and future 4th generation cellular technologies including LTE and UMB, using NDIS5.1, NDIS6 and future derivatives.
- Networking security protocols including Firewall, IPSEC, IKE, along with EAP and 802.1x
- Voice over IP and the related SIP/RTC protocols
- Synchronization using Media Transport Protocol and Synchronization scheduling for push protocols to improve battery life
- Synchronization UI on both the Windows Mobile device and the Windows Desktop Family (Windows XP, Vista and future derivatives)
In addition to managing the deliveries of these protocols and technologies we are looking for an individual who can lead our strategic direction and planning for the new elements of device connectivity which are uniquely mobile, looking at the following issues:
- VoIP on WiFi, WiMax and 4G cellular systems
- real-time handover of voice calls between circuit switched cellular and SIP/RTC systems
- Mobile IP and Quality of Service
- the evolution of synchronization as connectivity becomes ubiquitous and the relation to desktop technologies like Foldershare, Skydrive and other cloud based data sharing services.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, having delivered on several medium sized SW development projects, along with demonstrated ability to manage and grow team members. There will be an emphasis on collaboration skills as Windows Mobile derives this technology in partnerships with groups across Microsoft including Windows Core Networking, our Office Communications Group, the Mobile Technology Center in China and Microsoft Research.
A BS in CS, EE or related discipline is required and an advanced degree is preferred.
