Position Description
Perform hand finishing of milled parts and skins using hand and power tools to remove machine marks, burrs, irregularities and blemishes. Complete and fair machined contours, edge finish, surfaces, and form-specified radii and chamfer on edges per BAC specifications. Employment in this position requires handling & use of low impact vibratory tools, lifting /pulling up to 10 lbs, rotation of neck/head, bending and twisting at the waist, standing, kneeling, Walking reaching, grasping, sitting, flexion/extension, contact with metals, exposure to atmospheric conditions, noise, dust and fumes. The following personal protective equipment may be worn as a requirement for this job, face/eye protection, hand/arm protection, hearing protection and protective footwear. Review work area to determine what needs to be done or obtain job assignment from lead. Obtain and read manufacturing plans and engineering drawings, as required, to determine area to be worked. Remove burrs and break edges using routers, scrapers, and sanders. Work with and assist higher classified employees to finish detailed parts and/or skins. Use air powered hand sanders to remove machining marks, surface irregularities, and mismatches. Break sharp edges of parts, as required, prior to hydro-form and stretch press operations to prevent cracking of parts. Clean surfaces using solvents and/or water, as required. Wipe dry. Use hand trimmers and machine trimmers to remove tooling tabs. Use hand-held power tools with rotary files, abrasive wheels, and sanding discs to fair contours, finish edges, chamfers, and radii. Part mark parts by using vibrator pencil, steel stamp, or tags. Package parts, by protective wrapping or inter-leafing, as required. Check own work for conformance to specification. Contact lead, supervisor, or co-worker with questions when assistance is needed or when any problem arises.

Competencies
Operate computing equipment to access job information such as, blueprints, drawings, specifications and other online information systems. Use various types of hand tools and/or hand-held power tools. Work with others as part of a team which includes giving and receiving feedback, assisting others in completion of tasks; possess interpersonal, listening, and participation skills. Understand the application of technical documents/information such as BAC specifications, manufacturing plans and safety information. Be skilled in the selection, set-up and operation of the appropriate tool(s) for a given type of work. Effectively communicate written information such as tie-ins, planning or engineering change requests and reports. Have knowledge of proper use, handling and disposal of hazardous materials per government regulations and Boeing procedures. Think before acting, anticipate outcome of an action, know if something looks wrong and ask questions when necessary. Mechanical ability, manual dexterity, and hand/eye coordination required to perform various projects, per drawings, sketches, and verbal or written instructions. Organize work efficiently. Have knowledge of safe working practices, emergency procedures and possible dangerous situations. Follow oral/written instructions provided by the lead or supervisor. Use basic math that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints. Capable of visualizing a three-dimensional shape from a two-dimensional view, converting left-hand to right-hand views and understanding symbols, flag notes, and general notes.

Education and/or Experience
High School Graduate or GED required.

This job requisition is a HUB req, which means jobs are for 2nd shift. The final work location for this position could be at Auburn Wa. or Puyallup Wa. and will be determined after the interview and selection process. Current Boeing employees working in Puget Sound must submit an Employee Requested Transfer (ERT) with a Quality Through Training Program (QTTP) Advisor to be considered in the eligible candidate pool.
