Posted: Mar 10, 2008 Responsibilities


Lead or be responsible for licensing activities, including document preparation and regulatory reviews.

Lead or be responsible for analyses, calculations and evaluations required to confirm ESBWR Buildings structural design adequacy.

Responsible for design, procurement support and construction specifications/drawings.

Support vendor manufacturing (respond to questions/requests, review submittals, witness tests).

Communicate effectively with other Engineering organizations, Projects, Sourcing, Regulatory Affairs, NRC, and QA on technical issues.

Mentor and provide technical leadership in area of expertise to other engineers and projects.

Provide technical leadership in Civil/ Structural engineering and provide technical interface and guidance between GE and the ESBWR Civil/Structural design contractors.

Perform receipt inspections on Civil/ Structural engineering deliverables and enter them into GE's document control system.
Qualifications


Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 10 years experience (or 5+ years experience with Masters degree) including minimum 3 years in nuclear power plant design engineering.

Minimum of 1 year experience with documentation practices and requirements in a highly regulated industry.
Desired

Familiarity with Industrial Codes and Standards and regulatory guidance applicable to Civil Structural Design of Nuclear Power Plants in particular ASME Sec. III, ASCE, AISC, ACI and applicable NRC Regulations.

Very strong technical writing skills in English language (please submit samples).

Detail oriented, able to prioritize work, and communicate openly in stressful situations.

"Can do" attitude, ability to find better ways to perform jobs, and open to change.

Quick learner, able to sort through information and make sound decisions.

Flexibility to meet business needs including occasional evening and weekend support.

Knowledge of GE Advanced Boiling Water Reactor Certified Design.

Experience with GE documentation system, practices and requirements.

Registered Professional Engineer in US States.

6 Sigma Green Belt Certification (GE employees only). General
