Posted: Mar 11, 2008 Responsibilities

* Responsible for managing the cost estimating and project controls needs for new nuclear plant projects and related business opportunities.

* Develop and provide cost estimates for domestic and overseas advanced reactor proposals, and for other projects as assigned.

* Heavy emphasis will be placed initially on preparing the cost estimate to support current domestic opportunities. This shall include the supply of required piping, mechanical, civil, and electrical materials, as well as other associated vendor or GE supplied hardware, software, and equipment, and plant indirect and direct construction cost estimates.

* Work closely with Engineering to establish work tasks necessary to provide sufficient details and specifications for defining equipment requirements and quantity details for cost estimate evaluations.

* Responsible for developing reliable cost estimates for various material and installation costs.

* Apply procedures and prepare estimates for non-hardware capital costs such as customer duties, escalation, interest during construction, taxes, nuclear insurance O&M expense, working capital, startup costs, etc.

* Responsible for integration of cost estimating efforts across Nuclear Plant Projects and Engineering in support of new plants and associated projects.

* Responsible for integrating and directing GE Energy Sourcing in support of firm price quotes for new plant equipment and services.

Qualifications

* BS or MS Degree in Engineering or 5+ years of experience.

* 5+ years in complex engineering or construction.

* Minimum of 5 years experience in power generation, preferably nuclear.

* 5+ years in cost estimation or related commercial/business experience.

* Greenbelt certification (GE Employees Only).

* Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of all programs within the GE toolkit (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access).

* Scheduling tools skills and working knowledge of & experience with Primavera, Project Schedule.

Desired

* Broad knowledge of power industry vendors, suppliers, and processes.

* Comprehensive knowledge of and use of with cost estimating software.

* Process-oriented.

* Excellent organizational and team skills.

* Highly effective communication skills for multi-discipline, and leadership interface.
