Position : Senior Product Manager-McGraw-Hill Construction

MHC is in search of a talented and experiencedSenior Product Manager .



TheSenior Product Manager , BPM is aligned with McGraw-Hill Construction’s building product manufacturer (BPM) customer segment and is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout products’ lifecycles. The person in this position will gather and prioritize customer needs, define product vision, and provide leadership to technology, operations, customer support, sales, and marketing teams to ensure customer satisfaction and business goals are met.



TheSenior Product Manager has a key role in helping to shape and execute the future vision of the McGraw-Hill Construction Network and the job also includes ensuring that their product and marketing efforts support the McGraw-Hill Construction’s overall strategy and goals.



Individual Responsibilities



Conduct research and analyze customer and market data to identify customer needs and pain points.

Work with research team and/or vendors to conduct primary market research.
Review and report on customer and market data as well as secondary research.
Review and report on online usage and sales data for existing products.
Attend trade shows and industry events, monitor industry publications.
Create customer personas including workflow and needs.

Coordinate Stage-gate product development process for new products and enhancements to secure approvals and report progress to management.

Evaluate competition and market conditions for new products and enhancements to existing products.
Create business case for new products and enhancements; propose an overall budget to ensure success.
Prepare development plan, critical path, and timeline.

Prepare market launch plan including key milestones and success metrics.
Conduct post-launch review.

Function as business product leader for product development efforts and be responsible for execution on time and within budget; provide leadership to internal teams to execute development and launch plans for new products and enhancements.

Prepare Business Requirements Briefs (scope documents) with prioritized features and corresponding justification.
Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples; collect and analyze data on product performance and customer satisfaction.
Recommend product development release priorities and trade offs.
Develop the core positioning and messaging for new products and enhancements.
Propose pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals; coordinate with finance, operations, marketing, and sales to implement pricing.
Monitor success metrics and progress towards product objectives and business goals; deliver a monthly report on significant achievements, events, and progress.

Team Responsibilities



Work with internal technology, and customer support teams to develop new products and enhancements; attend regular status meetings to monitor progress
Work with Usability SME to achieve best practices for customer usability
Work with productions/operations teams to establish business rules, create procedures for customer implementation and “Day 2” process
Work with user marketing team and vendors to ensure that traffic/distribution goals are met
Work with Customer Operations team to review contracts and rate announcements, provide input to business rules and procedures
Work with marketing and sales teams to launch new products and enhancements

Review sales tools and collateral, provide input and feedback
Review press announcements, provide input and feedback
Assist in briefing and training the sales force via web conferences, at sales meetings, and in the field
Attend customer calls to support sales efforts and gather feedback
Perform product demos to customers at trade shows

Work with business development team to identify and engage third parties (i.e. construction industry software providers) to enhance value proposition for customers and speed time to market.



Requirements



Product Management skills required for this position:
Mature professional – must be able to rapidly prioritize within a dynamic environment.
Confident with new technology – must have substantial knowledge of the internet and how it is being used in business and information publishing
Strategic thinking and planning – must be able to manage and deliver day-to-day project results in the context of long term priorities.
Strong tactical execution – must be self directed and able to create a roadmap and show follow-through.
Superior leadership and people skills – must be able to work and develop relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and achieve results in a matrix environment.
Excellent communicator – must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with diverse internal teams, vendors, partners, and customers.



Professional experience required for this position:
Minimum of 5 years experience as a product manager with 2+ years of experience in the software/Internet business.
Minimum 3 years experience in the information and media business.
Project management experience in software/Internet.
Research, financial, and analytical experience.
Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products.
Demonstrated teamwork skills and proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.



Other requirements for this position:
Must be able to travel 20% of the time to trade shows, customer calls, company meetings, etc.
Must be able to work one day/weekly in Hightstown, NJ office.
Skilled in power point, word, excel, and other business applications
