Position Description:
ROLE: The Elevator Supervisor is responsible for the receiving, shipping, cleaning, storage, inventory, and quality control of malt and seed barley. Various responsibilities of the Supervisor may require work to be done safely in adverse conditions and environment, such as confined space, elevated work stations, and temperature extremes, while working in conjunction with the Elevator Specialists and their daily activities. They are also responsible for the logistics, handling, and distribution of seed to Coors customers. The Supervisor is also responsible for the maintenance of rolling stock, elevator machinery, and buildings, as well as leading GMP and housekeeping programs at Coors facilities. The position is expected to be able to maintain accurate elevator records, inventories, and other required documentation by being competent in the use of a computer and office software. Trains all employees and temp labor at the facility and is responsible for safety programs and their procedures and will be responsible for the leadership and development of the Elevator Specialists. The Supervisor manages maintenance, expense, and capital projects within budget. Works with Regional Manager and Agronomists on logistics of shipping and receiving of malt and seed, capital projects, maintenance, etc., all in a timely manner.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
1. Safety & Productivity - Assures that all coworkers are working in a safe manner and environment by participating in safety, health, environmental audits, and improvement programs. Efforts will result in ensuring legal compliance and the achievement of business goals. The Supervisor will lead safety programs and associated activities. The Supervisor will be involved with coworkers and management to ensure that future designs of production equipment are designed appropriately. Will lead the initiation, support, coordination and sustainability of process improvement projects related to safety and productivity through team involvement in their area. Leads tactical implementation of improvement projects with feedback mechanisms related to measuring and monitoring project performance.
2. Shipping and Receiving - Receives barley from growers and ships barley per the shipping schedule to designated malting facilities. The elevator Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance and repair of grain conditioning equipment to keep it operating at peak efficiency and minimal downtime. The Supervisor will be responsible for the ordering and billing of rail cars and trucks for the shipping of the malt and seed as well as by-products (dust and chaff, screenings). The Elevator Supervisor will also be required to keep accurate inventories on all products and report them monthly to their Managers.
3. Quality Control - The Elevator Supervisor will be responsible for the quality of barley through proper operation of barley cleaning equipment, managing an aeration system to optimize storage temperatures, maintaining an insect/rodent control program, and proper housekeeping practices.
4. Maintenance - The Supervisor is responsible for upkeep of rolling stock and elevator machinery while operating within the budget constraints. The elevators are located in remote areas with no maintenance support available from the brewery.
5. Corporate Responsibility- The Elevator Supervisor will assist the regional manager and agronomist with grower functions and promote responsible enjoyment of our beverages. The Supervisor will maintain good public relations with growers and uphold the Molson Coors Values in our communities.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
3-5 years experience in elevator with supervisory experience preferred.
Computer knowledge in Word, Excel.
Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to find problem areas and make machine repairs with minimum down time.
Knowledge of proper barley conditioning and insect control.
Ability to read and understand logic diagrams.
Ability to manage, train and supervise elevator personnel.
Must be able to lift 50lbs, and physically fit to do multiple bending and lifting activities.
Pesticide applicators license.
