Position: Product Marketing Manager, Hardware
The Hardware Marketing Team is looking for a Product Marketing Manager to champion the end-to-end marketing efforts for its innovative hardware product lines worldwide. This person will have the unique responsibility of working closely with many disciplines to conceive, define, gain management commitment for, and orchestrate the execution of breakthrough marketing plans and strategies across all retail and distribution channels worldwide.
Primary Responsibilities
Generate and articulate the positioning and strategy for marketing (for a particular product category like Mouse or Webcams) across finished goods channels using insights gleaned from research, observation, experience and input from multiple sources inside and outside of Microsoft
Champion existing and to-be-launched products, ensuring branding, product positioning, and naming are compelling and differentiated from competition and consistent with other related MS Hardware products
Budget for, initiate the development of, and deliver breakthrough marketing plans, materials and communications - including packaging, public relations, advertising, point-of-sale/merchandising, sales tools and promotional programs - working with Hardware Marketing Communications organization, International Product Marketing Managers and Channel teams worldwide
Work with integrated Product Marketing Management and Marketing Communications team to develop, gain approval for, and consistently deliver innovative marketing strategies and tactics for hardware across retail worldwide
Work with international channel/sales teams to define revenue goals, product pricing, marketing mission/objectives/strategies/tactics, SKU management and budget spend targets
Work with Operations/Manufacturing groups to ensure product flows meet demand, providing guidance as necessary, and managing SKU lifecycle through end of life
Provide input to Product Line Management team to ensure new, differentiated products meet and/or exceed market feature, price and value requirements
Drive the Hardware business by intimately understanding our international channels and competitors, proactively employing the most effective marketing levers (pricing, promotion, PR, etc), securing support for initiatives and analyzing tradeoffs from a financial or relationship perspective to realize business goals
Qualifications
5 or more years experience as a marketing professional/marketing manager, preferably with retail experience
Marketing, Sales, and/or International experience
Strong analytical abilities including P&L analysis, SKU management and scenario modeling
Solid organization, leadership, team-building and negotiation capabilities
Must be self-motivated and able to work effectively in a highly collaborative, team environment
Must have the ability to develop and lead teams and individuals
Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) is required. MBA a plus.
