Position Description
Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals. Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees. Extensive experience in the conceptualization, design, development, testing, refinement, and fielding of rotorcraft electronic, mechanical, and control systems. Extensive electronic design and development experience. Familiar with and uses a wide variety of design tools, e.g., simulation and analysis tools. Should have both an electronics and mechanical systems understanding. Applicant must understand control systems, navigation systems, guidance systems, sensors, actuation, and be familiar with what kinds of hardware are typically utilized on aircraft to implement these functions. Applicant should have familiarity and some proficiency with some software language(s). Must be a "hands-on" manager, and understand when to help and when not "to help". Must be capable of, interested in, and motivated to develop the capabilities of the engineering staff. Capable of managing projects, developing proposals and proposal estimates, developing staffing forecasts, managing and statusing project budgets under disciplined Earned Value Management techniques and guidelines required by customers.
