Position Description
1. Operate motive power vehicles such as forklifts, industrial trucks and tractors to load, unload, move, position and align parts, equipment, scaffolding, jacks, generators, tools and material, etc 2. Ride in cockpit and operate brakes, as necessary, while airplane is being towed. Operate fork truck, tractor and other motorized equipment for the purpose of moving scaffolding, jacks, generators, etc., to and from airplanes.
Competencies
1. Maintain records and logs as required. 2. Load and unload vehicles. 3. Couple, uncouple and move associated equipment as necessary. 4. Secure and protect loads using tarps, covers, slings, cables and ropes. 5. Check vehicle or equipment and report required maintenance. 6. Refuel vehicles. 7. Check material, parts and equipment with shipping records and obtain receipts at pickup or delivery points. 8. Handle tow bar and chock wheels to facilitate towing. 9. Keep a constant check on all airplanes stored on outside ramps for security of tie down ropes, loose cowl lines, open windows, unlocked controls, etc. 10. Perform motive equipment liaison between Transportation Department and Maintenance and/or other sections of shops and take equipment in need of repair to and from maintenance garage. 11. Load and unload air cargo as required. 12. Work independently to determine product movement priority. 13. Effective communicator.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma preferred.
