Position Description
The candidate will work in Sunnyvale, CA as a member of a systems engineering organization as a Security Systems Engineer supporting the development of network architectures, network management systems, network security, and information assurance solutions. A Systems Engineering background is required. CCDP, CCNP or CISSP certifications are desired or are able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience. The candidate will lead a development and test team which designs and integrates COTS products that include intrusion detection system, firewalls, network routers, switches, add/drop multiplexers, HPOV, UNIX (HPUX, Solaris), Linux, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Microsoft SQL and Oracle. The position involves continuous interface with systems and other engineers at geographically diverse locations for the design and integration of large scale, complex communication systems. Because of Boeings commitment to network centric operations, it would be highly desirable for the candidate to have prior experience in the development of real-time embedded software i.e. skills in C++, C, VxWorks and FPGAs. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Education and/or Experience
Typically 20 years' experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 18 years' experience or a PhD degree with a minimum of 15 years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Other Job related information
This position requires expertise in network management systems for mobil ad-hoc wireless and wired networks, networking protocols and network security concepts. Familiarity with NSA and DOD network security standards is highly desirable. Familiarity with SOA technologies such as Web Services, and Application Server such as JBOSS is desired. Experience in some of the following areas is desired: JAVA/J2EE, EJB, C++ and data storage tools such as MySQL and Oracle. Experience in developing network management products to manage Router, Switches, Hubs and /or Security Gateways is desirable. Recent experience in the application of Multiple Level of Security (MLS) and firewalls will be of benefit. Familiarity with GIG network architectures and protocols, and JTRS, FAB-T, FCS, TSAT or TMOS is a plus.
