Job Description:
Job Title Litigation Attorney
External Job Description This role will report directly to our VP of Litigation and Human Resources. The attorney will handle all facets of litigation and dispute resolution, as well as provide counseling to business clients on litigation and litigation avoidance.
Main Job Duties:
* Management of lawsuits, claims and alternate dispute resolution proceedings
* Preparation and review of pleadings and briefs and direct oversight of outside counsel
* Formulate litigation strategies and negotiate settlements
* Functions as lead attorney for all trials while working with outside counsel to ensure overall strategy is implemented
* Responsible for conducting research, depositions and other due-diligence in support of on-going cases
* Provide proactive and effective legal services, training and counsel- at all levels of the Company- on a wide variety of legal issues/matters
* Respond to subpoenas and other information requests
* Conduct internal investigations
* Work with outside counsel on cost containment measures; negotiate fee agreements and ensure that company billing guidelines are followed
* Work with Corporate Risk Management, Global Complaint Management, Corporate Ethics & Compliance and other company personnel to protect company interests
* Handle internal document discovery, litigation hold orders and electronic discovery matters
* Supervise litigation paralegal on various tasks including resolution of claims, internal discovery and auto liability matters
Skills/Experience Education/Certification * JD from an accredited Law School/University
* 6+ years of overall experience as an attorney. Experience with labor and employment litigation/counseling is preferred.
