In accordance with nursing standards, JCAHO, Medicare, and all other applicable federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations, the PP/NSY Supervisor has the responsibility to supervise all unit activities by assuming responsibility for the nursing care given on a designated patient care unit. In addition, the Supervisor evaluates the effectiveness of the staff and unit performance and coordinates the unit activities with other departments. Supervisor should possess the ability to make independent decisions and prioritize responsibilities when circumstances warrant such action; be clinically proficient in nursing skills for the care of antepartum, postpartum, neonatal, and gynecological patient; demonstrate leadership ability and possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and other employees.
Qualifications
Job qualifications include:
Graduate of a school of professional nursing (Baccalaureate degree preferred). Minimum of 3 years recent Maternal-Child nursing, with prior experience as Charge Nurse. Current license as a professional nurse in the State of Texas is required, as well as CPR certification and completion of Neonatal Resuscitation program/current card.
