Job Title Scientist, Cell & Molecular Biology
External Job Description The Scientist is responsible for molecular and cell biology aspects of funded biotherapeutic protein programs. Additionally, the Scientist will:
~ Be responsible for development of bioassays and construction of cell lines.
~ Plan experiments, develop molecular and bioanalytical methods, and participate in planning and execution of biotherapeutic programs.
~ Understand theoretical and technical aspects of entire projects.
~ Perform more complex experimentation within area of expertise in an independent fashion with capability to determine relevancy and accuracy of the data.
~ Identify technological needs for group and take lead in bringing these technologies into Hospira.
~ Support due diligence efforts by providing information and recommendations to manager.
~ May represent R&D as a core team member on programs with strong biology emphasis, and may guide others in conducting project specific laboratory activities.
Skills/Experience Education/Certification An MS degree with 3+ years experience or BS degree with 6+ years experience is required.
Experience with several previous development programs including mastery of fundamental lab skills and writing scientific reports is required. Demonstrated proficiency in some advanced lab techniques, particularly related to cell and molecular biology, key to success in position.
Direct experience in molecular biology (gene cloning, expression, sequencing) and/or biochemistry (protein chromatography and characterization) essential for success in the position.
