Position Description
Professional Services Consultant:
Professional Services Consultant is responsible for implementing BMC solutions at customer sites and developing/evolving best practices for delivery of BMC Business Service Management Solutions.
The Consultant's primary responsibilities for the role are:
1) Responsible for leading and/or participating in small teams comprised of BMC, partner and customer resources at client sites to deliver required outcomes and produce additional business with BMC clients.
2) Understands how to apply technology to improve the operational effectiveness or efficiency of specific IT functions or applications.
3) Implement, customize, and configure BMC products as part of a defined BMC Route to Value (i.e. Change and Configuration Management, Asset Management and Discovery, Service Impact and Event Management, Incident and Problem Management or Service Level Management)
4) Integrate BMC products to each other and third-party applications.
5) Improve the quality and efficiency of the solutions delivered to BMC clients as a means to improve BMC business margins.
Accountable to client for achieving specific outcomes by delivering services as directed by the project manager and technical lead . Ability to transfer knowledge of the BMC approach to business service management. The Consultant should be certified on multiple product families. Should maintain ongoing product knowledge.
Must be familiar with other IT management technologies and have a working knowledge of IT operations and management. Ability to take direction and work independently in achieving stated objectives.
All consultants should understand enterprise scale, ERP like, integrated applications from a process/business perspective
Must have the ability to own their utilization for being billable as a key performance indicator of the job
Position Requirements
Experience / Skills:
* 7+ years experience in systems design and development experience in an enterprise computing environments.
* B.S. or equivalent experience in computer science, MIS or related field
* Foundations Certified in IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
* ITSM /ITSP Experience
* Enterprise Platform Skills, (LINUX, UNIX, AIX, MS-Enterprise Server, Advance Server, DB2, ORACLE, MS-SQL)
* Strong technical knowledge of at least one major operating systems environment
* Strong customer interaction skills
* Demonstrated API, and/or WEBSERVICES, and/or XML Development Skills
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Experience with BMC Delivery Methodology
ITIL certification strongly preferred
* Willingness to travel 80% to 100%.
* Remedy Suite of applications (Help Desk, Asset Management, Change Management (CMDB), Service Level Agreements, Flashboards) - familiar with BMC's Remedy products (ITSM) in terms of implementation or support. Ideal candidate will have field experience implementing these Remedy applications.
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience
