Position Description
The Boeing Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Field Engineering & Verification (FE&V) organization is responsible for executing tasks which promote technical integrity of facility assets across a geographically distributed team. This position is based in Huntsville, AL and is for a lead engineer responsible for planning and executing facility verification initiatives and tasks associated with complex facility modifications and the development of the Explosive Facility Area Warning System. Duties include overseeing technical execution of design and construction tasks, managing and implementing facility verification processes, technical monitoring of key Site Development processes, identifying program process improvements, working with internal and external GMD facility stakeholders to define and implement process improvements, coordinating across IPTs for solutions to technical facility issues, coordinating anomaly closures through program control boards, assisting with the resolution of external customer issues, providing plans and status to senior management, developing and maintaining metrics and coaching less experienced engineers. More general responsibilities include developing statements of work (SOW) for new and evolving facility needs, assisting management with the development of basis of estimates. Requires coordination with BSC, Teledyne and Bechtel A/E facility groups to develop plans, track progress, and resolve conflicts. Acts as the FE&V focal for the verification/validation plans of the R&C and EFAWS efforts. Works with group focals within WSOPS and other GMD Product Teams on Installation & Check Out and implementation of system level verification/validation plans. Identifies corrective actions to improve project or team performance when needed. Provides technical, business and integration technical-leadership for the development and execution of facility upgrades. Applies industrial engineering principles, acoustics, human factors, facilities engineering, proposal development, subcontract management, cost account management, planning & integration, customer interface.

Education and/or Experience
Typically 9 to 13 years' experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 7 to 11 years' experience or a PhD degree with 4 to 8 years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
