Position Description
Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead Ground Systems Engineering activities to plan, design, develop and verify highly-complex battle manager and related system of systems and system solutions. Leads subordinate engineers to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Leads Ground System analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success for all Ground Systems components. Leads, develops designs and conducts research that results in new requirements management methodologies or result in unique approaches that mitigate assessment/review findings. Creates and implements strategic approaches for program and business area decisions. Works independently and is capable of leading junior engineers in the focusing of GMD Ground Systems products capabilities.

Education and/or Experience
Typically 20 years' experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 18 years' experience or a PhD degree with a minimum of 15 years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
