John Deere World Headquarters-Moline, Illinois is seeking a Supply Base Manager to lead the Strategic Sourcing Process for higher spend, more complex, and critical components/services sourced on a global or regional basis by forming a cross-functional team for the purpose of data gathering, quote preparation, and gap analysis in order to make fact-based decisions regarding supplier selection and sourcing needs. In this position, you will:

Leads sourcing teams in developing and implementing sourcing strategies to design the optimal supply base that meets organizational demands and secures the lowest total acquisition cost for purchased products and services.
Assembles and analyzes data to arrive at Request for Quote (RFQ) / Request for Proposal (RFP) criteria, a final list of potential suppliers, and a negotiation strategy.
Negotiates long-term agreements with specific suppliers, ensuring the company meets its goals.
Drives the implementation plan for the commodity team, establishing metrics and tracking tools to measure progress in meeting objectives and serving continuous improvement.
Manages high level, strategic supplier contacts with key or high-impact suppliers as they are selected and integrated into the divisions operations -- developing relationships with upper management to assure long-term strategic sources: communicates performance goals, gaps to performance and outlines strategies for improvement to assure performance expectations are achieved as they relate to the Company's business needs, utilizing Achieving Excellence criteria.
Defines, resolves, and provides permanent solutions to systemic supplier performance issues with the assistance of other functional representatives such as quality, product engineering, etc., while managing the day-to-day supplier relationship issues, thereby assuring proper communication occurs.
Leads and motivates indirect reports and cross-functional team members.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Management, Engineering/Technology, Supply Management, Accounting/Finance discipline or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience
Solid understanding of manufacturing and operations processes..
Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
Possesses an understanding of fundamental business principles and practices.
Knowledge of processes and tools within Supply Management.
Cross functional work experience(s) in multiple major areas such as: accounting, product engineering, quality, manufacturing operations, warehousing and/or distribution, production employee supervision, supply management, marketing, human resources, industrial engineering, etc.
Project management experience.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience in specific areas of Supply Management such as: supplier integration, strategic supply management, supplier development, module supply management, scheduling, forecasting, or logistics.
Demonstrated team lead/ supervisor experience within supply management or other applicable area.
Experience working within a global multinational environment.
