Leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business or is a recognized expert in a specialized field. Responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within functional area of expertise.
* Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce software engineering solutions to meet near term and long range engineering needs for a segment or group of products.
* Provide technical consultation on product problems throughout the business including supplier and field support.
* Lead and provide the key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact.
* Support other GE businesses, internal & external customers, and suppliers as required.
* Be an industry recognized authority and an inspiration to other technical personnel in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty and in anticipating, applying, adapting or developing technology to meet current and future business needs including adherence to schedules and estimated costs.
* Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues, e.g. cost reduction activities, quality initiatives, etc.
* Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters.
* Provide technical guidance, direction and training to new and experienced engineers.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering.
* At least 5 additional years of experience in a software engineering capacity.
Desired
*Extensive requirements based software development experience to DO178B Standards.
*Extensive experience with SW architecture definition, requirements decomposition, structured design, development and verification/validation.
*Significant Level A software development experience.
*Experience with control theory and mathematical modeling of control systems.
*Experience with control law software development for closed loop embedded controls.
*Experience with HW/SW integration using TMS320F28xx.
*Experience with one or more of the following: Doors, TMS320F28xx family of devices, Simulink, Flowmaster, AMEsim.
*Experience with control laws and software for the control of pressure, temperature, and flow in pneumatic systems.
*Strong oral and written communication and leadership skills.
*Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market, and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding, and capability of the business.
*Problem analysis and resolution skills.
*Demonstrated leadership in defining the state of the art in at least one technical specialty.
*Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge including market and competitor development.
