The Zune team is looking for a designer to help us become the leader in innovative yet simple device user experiences. Lead the user experience for an entertainment handheld device, including interaction design, human interface design, scenario development and visual direction. Actively contribute towards strategic vision. The ability to understand evolving user behavior and complex technical considerations and propose and deliver simple solutions is critical. This position will require a collaborative person who will work closely with program management and development teams in proposing innovations in this dynamic space. This person will be delivering innovative interaction models and world class look and feel. Experience in mobile communication design, media application design, and innovative device UI is a key consideration for us.
Qualifications:
Strong visual sensibilities, ability to use visual thinking to inform breakthrough interaction design
Proven ability to innovate within and extend current technology through design.
User centered design process background with proven scenario development skills and interaction design between hardware and software.
Experience with human interface and navigation models requiring engineering prototypes of dpads, switches, accelerometers, touch screen input variables.
Experience shipping innovative and complex products within deadlines.
Sensibility for mobile communications and entertainment applications.
Proven ability to innovate for new markets.
A minimum of 5 years work experience designing within a collaborative environment required.
Knowledge of new technologies, authoring environments and computer graphics tools is preferred.
Must possess very strong communication skills and have the ability to build team consensus around complex, innovative design solutions.
A bachelor's degree in interaction design, graphic design, product design or related discipline is required.
