Job Overview: ATMI is seeking a Financial Analyst for our Minneapolis, Minnesota office. This position is the business partner to the Packaging and Life Sciences Director of Operations and will be responsible for providing financial guidance for both the strategic and day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate will be the subject matter expert in manufacturing processes and the corresponding financial impact, allowing for full responsibility for budgeting, controls and status reporting. This role is an integral part of the Packaging and Life Sciences organization and will lead and provide direction on asset utilization, make versus buy recommendations, cost control and gross profit improvements through participation in cross functional teams. This position reports to the Manager, Finance.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Analyze, model and forecast cost performance;
· Assess trends, make reports and planning recommendations and identify cost improvement opportunities. This includes active involvement in regular planning and budget cycles, as well as conducting ad hoc analysis and modeling;
· Assist plant management in developing financial targets and related metrics consistent with ATMI’s strategic and financial plan. Analyze the business on a regular basis according to the financial metrics to determine if the activities are consistent with achieving the company’s financial goals;
· Analyze budgets, forecasts, strategies and tactics for managing company resources to maximize profits and return;
· Assist and hold business partners accountable while driving projects to achieve established targets. This may include leading multiple cross-functional teams;
· Partner with Supply Chain organization in make versus buy analysis and other sourcing decisions;
· Responsible for understanding all inventory changes and driving improvement in inventory performance while satisfying customer requirements;
· Support all Operations internal and external audit activities;
· Support the global quality organization;
· Support global purchasing / supply chain organization;
· Communicate financial analysis to management and/or executive leadership;
· Educate decision makers on techniques employed in analysis;
· Actively participate in Strategic Long-Range Planning and Operating Plan process;
· Ability to do some travel, both domestically and internationally.
Education/Experience:
· B.S. Degree in Accounting or Finance required, with MBA highly preferred;
· 8+ years experience in Finance, with 2+ years in a manufacturing support role preferred;
· 5+ years experience in forecasting, budgeting, partnering and variance analysis, demonstrating progressively increasing complexity and responsibility;
· Demonstrated accounting knowledge;
· Excellent math, analytical, problem-solving, financial modeling and excellent MS Excel skills;
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present reports and recommendations to management in both verbal and written format;
· Oracle and Business Objects experience preferred.
