Leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business or is a recognized expert in a specialized field. Responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within functional areas area of expertise.

* Provide counsel and advise clients on a broad range of various domestic and international intellectual property issues across GE businesses.

* Strategically plan and manage patent portfolios that facilitate growth.

* Provide intellectual property compliance training.

* Work closely with other lawyers in solving mixed intellectual property/general legal problems.

* Provide leadership and legal advice on multi-functional teams.

* Lead both lawyers and non-lawyers on legal and business issues.

* Lead, anticipate and drive solutions for diverse legal and business issues and growth initiatives.

* Serve as an active member of the legal team.
Qualifications

* Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

* At least 5 additional years of experience in Intellectual Property law.

* Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

* Member in good standing with the State Bar.

* Demonstrated ability to develop process-driven solutions to issues.

* Ability to work in a cross-functional environment.

* Domain expertise in intellectual property strategies and requirements for government contracts.

* Expertise in government contracting intellectual property clauses (for example FARS, DFARS, etc.).

* Extensive experience in negotiation of intellectual property data rights in government contracts.

* Must have a US Government Clearance or be able to obtain one.

* Patent application preparation and prosecution experience (preferable in the mechanical & chemical arts).

* Engineering undergraduate and/or graduate education and, preferably, work experience in the mechanical and/or chemical arts.
