Located outside of Bend, Oregon, just east of the majestic Cascade Mountains, Mount Bachelor Academy offers a 14-16 month therapeutic boarding school program. The curriculum is designed for adolescents 13-18 who may have behavioral, emotional, motivational problems or learning disabilities. MBA has been providing a well-rounded curriculum integrating therapeutic counseling with intellectual, social and physical growth in a boarding school environment since 1988.
We are currently seeking a Special Education Teacher. Our ideal candidate will exemplify a strong overall work ethic in all school activities and will develop and maintain positive, healthy relationships with students serving as a role model.
Job Responsibilities:
•Act as a resource for students to help them understand their learning differences and acquire self-advocacy skills.
•Act as a resource for staff members to help them understand student learning needs and behavioral issues, including helping to modify curriculum.
•Compile comprehensive educational reports (including information from psychological evaluations and file review)
•Make recommendations regarding students learning needs as part of educational reports
•Manage student records, including data entry in Access and creating paper files.
•Test students using individually administered standardized tests, particularly Woodcock Johnson Test of Achievement
•Will help with tutoring students.
•Will substitute in classes as needed.
•May teach a class as primary teacher if needed.
•Will perform general office tasks.
•Assist Special Education Director with special projects and assignments as needed.

Qualifications Desired:
•Licensed teacher, special education endorsement required.
•Excellent computer skills essential, including expertise in MS Word, Excel, and Access.
•Familiarity with using data from psychological evaluations.
