This position supports the Entertainment & Devices Division (E&D) Commercial Retail products marketing teams in the US, WW Retail Services teams and the WW Retail GTM teams. These teams are responsible for the sales of Windows, Office and other Commercial software products at retail in the US, the development and execution of worldwide retail channel marketing and merchandising programs (for Commercial, CPXG, Xbox 360, Zune) and the worldwide Go To Market activities for our Commercial Software products.
This is a highly visible position and will require best of class financial analysis, business partnering, reporting, communication and interpretation of financial result in your support of these businesses. This job also provides a unique opportunity for full visibility into and participation in the WW Commercial Retail business & Consumer Retail Channel at Microsoft. Opportunity for advancement exists for someone who gains a strong knowledge of the businesses, the financial processes and business partners and can then translate that knowledge into valuable reporting, analysis and insight on the US & WW results.
Responsibilities will also include:
Report and analyze WW E&D Commercial Retail products sales results, identifying and investigating variance to forecasts and budgets. Ensure accuracy of revenue data and act as a liaison with MS Sales regarding data issues affecting E&D Commercial revenue.
Provide financial accounting, reporting and analysis of US channel marketing spend, headcount, and business expenses for US Commercial Retail products, Interactive Games, CPXG and Zune businesses
Publish the WW E&D Commercial P&Ls on a monthly basis and provide variance analysis to budget and forecast
Engage and partner with US sales & marketing teams on financial analysis for sales programs. Evaluate effectiveness of new programs by comparing results with original proposals. Measure ROI and profitability of channel marketing investments on an on-going basis
Provide QBR and MYR support for Americas E&D sales and marketing business partners for MS Commercial Retail products and US Channel spend
Help drive annual planning process for US E&D sales, marketing, and business expense
Help drive monthly forecasting process for US E&D sales, marketing, and business expense
Implement and automate any financial processes using MS tools to reduce substantial and repetitive manual labor
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree with 6-10 years of demonstrated work experience (MBA preferred)
Strong spreadsheet competency with Excel required and a knowledge of other MS Finance tools (e.g. MS Sales, MARS, SAP, Calypso) is a definite asset
Strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to reporting accuracy
Very strong interpersonal skills (written and oral) and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of levels of personnel
Superior customer service focus
Strong project management skills with the ability to identify and implement process improvements. Ability to manage multiple projects and reprioritize as necessary to align with current business objectives
Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing tasks/priorities
Detailed oriented & thorough, with ability to think "big picture" and understand the key trends and levers that drive the business
Experience supporting marketing and business expense at MSFT is preferred
