The Xbox business team is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Business Development to own the relationships and business framework with Xbox partners that provide crucial services, software, silicon technology and components for the Xbox game console and related products. Specifically, this person will contribute immediately to the success of the Xbox business in the following areas:
Business Leadership:
In this role, you'll work closely with the Xbox console development and manufacturing teams to create and execute business processes that consistently meet all business goals. You will drive the process of identifying, evaluating, and selecting optimal technology providers, while utilizing and sharing best practices within Microsoft.
Negotiations:
Working in tandem with the console team, along with Legal and Finance, you will be responsible for:
Negotiating and closing high value contracts that have a direct and long-term impact on the bottom line
Analyzing and balancing a potential partner's value-add versus risk in areas including intellectual property, key business terms and continuity of supply
Defining deal structures that achieve the best value for Xbox, while maintaining a high level of product quality and long-term alignment of interests.
Relationship Management:
You will make meaningful contributions to essential programs with Xbox partners by:
Creating and maintaining effective relationships with key executives at Xbox partner companies
Cultivating close collaborations across a broad range of groups within Microsoft
Ensuring that Microsoft executives are fully informed about important partner-related issues
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
At least 10 years of post-college experience in the semiconductor and/or electronics industry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong business acumen and excellent analytical, problem solving, and project management skills
Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple internal and external groups
Preference will be given to candidates with:
An engineering degree and/or an MBA
Experience working with gaming-related products
A passion for electronic gaming
Travel:
Frequent travel between Seattle and Silicon Valley
Occasional other domestic and international travel
